Frequently asked questions
- Is KAI/VALUE affiliated with the artist?
- No. KAI/VALUE is an independent market reference. We do not represent the artist, sell his work, or take consignments.
- How are prices verified?
- Every record on this site links to a public source URL — an auction result, a dealer listing, or a verified marketplace sale. Records with two or more independent sources are marked verified; single-source records are marked tracked.
- What does POR mean?
- Price on request. The seller did not publicly disclose the sale price. POR entries are excluded from market averages.
- How often is this data updated?
- Records refresh continuously. New transactions are ingested as they are discovered from our source network. The public-facing cache revalidates every five minutes.
- Can I submit a transaction I participated in?
- Yes — use the Inquire form at the bottom of any page. Select 'selling' or 'acquired' as your intent and include the price and any proof (invoice, receipt, catalog entry). We verify before publishing.
- Are prices adjusted for inflation?
- No. All prices are nominal USD at the time of sale. If the original sale was in another currency, the FX rate at sale date is noted in the source record.
- What is an edition multiple?
- The ratio of a secondary-market sale price to the original retail price for a given edition. A 10× multiple means the work sold on the secondary market for ten times its gallery retail price.
- How are valuation ranges calculated?
- Estimates are derived from recent comparable sales using a rolling-window methodology. When fewer than three comparables exist, the range widens to reflect uncertainty.
